Dorota Koziara on the Messaggio collection and the new phase of the project's presence in the market

For Dorota Koziara, light has been one of the most important phenomena and design elements for years. This time, the Messaggio lamp collection, created for illu, has entered the next stage of its presence on the market. The introduction of the collection to Bokaro's offer in Poznań opens it up to wider interaction with architects and individual clients who can see the design in a real space.

Poznań is not a random place in this story. It was here that Dorota Koziara gained her first design experiences, first at the Piotr Potworowski School of Fine Arts, then at the University of Arts. The official commencement of sales of the Messaggio collection in Bokaro's Poznań showroom therefore also had a personal dimension.

11th December was a very important date for me. It's the moment when the Messaggio collection began to operate on a larger sales scale. I am pleased it happened in Poznań, a city that had a huge influence on my design education.” - says Dorota Koziara.

The introduction of the collection to Bokaro's offer was accompanied by a meeting with architects specialising in structure and interiors. For the designer, it was a special moment because direct confrontation of the project with a professional audience is always associated with significant emotions.

“Many architects came to the meeting, but also friends. Presenting a project in front of such an audience is always the most challenging, yet the most valuable. For me, it is crucial that the new product truly serves people and can be used in both private and public spaces.” - she emphasizes.

Light that Creates Atmosphere

Messaggio is an extensive collection that includes pendant lamps, floor lamps, and sconces. From the outset, it was designed as a system that allows architects to work freely with light and shape the atmosphere of a place depending on its function and character.

Messaggio can meet both functional and decorative expectations. I aimed for architects to be able to create an interior atmosphere with its help because this greatly influences our well-being,” says the designer.

Between Art and Architecture

Sconces play a special role in the collection, available in various sizes. When combined into larger arrangements, they create light compositions that, in public spaces such as hotels or restaurants, take on the role of an artistic element of design.

The presence of art in interiors always enriches them. The Messaggio collection offers the possibility of creating compositions that can function similarly to a work of art. I encourage architects to experiment with both pendant lamps and sconces,” emphasizes Dorota Koziara.

Individuality as a Natural Direction in Contemporary Design

The project also addresses the strong current need for individualization. Messaggio lamps offer the opportunity to work with light intensity and colour, as well as to program entire lighting compositions. Equally important is the extensive colour personalization feature.

In recent years, design has distinctly moved towards individual solutions. Colour, like light, affects our emotions. I wanted to provide architects with broad possibilities to choose and match lamps to the character of the designed space,” explains the designer.

During the first event in Poznań, which also heralds more to come, we presented architects with a colour pattern palette I proposed. However, you can choose any lamp colour you dream of, based on the wide range of RAL colours. Interestingly, the design allows for the application of two different colours – separately for the interior of the lamp and its external part,” adds Dorota Koziara.
